She Started Planting Trees at Six. By Ten, She Had Planted 100,000.
“Everyone who thinks that a small child cannot bring a change, I just want to remind them that a 4mm seed has the potential to grow into a 400-feet tall tree.”
At an age when most children are learning to read and write, Prasiddhi Singh was planting trees.
She was just six years old when she began her mission to plant 100,000 trees across India. By the time she turned ten, she had done exactly that — and National Geographic was telling her story to the world.
It started with a seed
Prasiddhi's journey was featured in National Geographic's One for Change initiative on Earth Day 2023, airing on Hotstar in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Kannada, and shared widely on YouTube.
For a ten-year-old, it was a moment of extraordinary recognition — but for Prasiddhi, it was never about recognition.
It was always about the trees.
Change begins with one
Her belief is simple and powerful: change begins with one.
Not one organisation, not one government, not one policy — but one individual deciding to take action.
She has always believed that people think they need a huge mission to make an impact, but that real change comes from individuals starting their journey and letting the impact multiply around them.
Through her Prasiddhi Forest Foundation, she turned that belief into reality — planting 100,000 trees and inspiring communities across India to take action in their own neighbourhoods.
A mission that began when Prasiddhi was just six years old grew into action across India and a movement encouraging communities to protect the planet.
From a mission to a movement
The foundation she built as a young child has since grown into a people's movement, working not just with institutions but with the farmers, women, and local communities whose lives are most deeply connected to the land.
On Earth Day, as her story aired across the country, Prasiddhi shared a message that captured everything she stands for: nature has always been her passion, and she believes that each of us has a responsibility to protect and preserve it for future generations.
She hoped her story would inspire others — no matter their age — to take action and make a positive impact on the planet.
Age is never a barrier to purpose.
Prasiddhi Singh is proof of that. She did not wait to grow up before making a difference.
She picked up a seed, pressed it into the earth, and changed the world — one tree at a time.

One seed. One person. One action at a time.
