At 17, He Is Proving That Dignity Is Not a Privilege — It Is a Right.
“The problem is not periods. The problem is the silence, stigma, and lack of access surrounding them.”
Aarav Seth is 17 years old, based in Delhi, and has already decided what he stands for.
As the founder of We Rise Together Foundation and its SheHygiene initiative, he is working on the ground in some of Delhi's most underserved communities — distributing sanitary pads, running awareness sessions, and having the conversations that most people still find too uncomfortable to start.
For Aarav, menstrual health is not charity. It is a basic necessity.
Taking the conversation into communities
On 9th May 2026, his team conducted a SheHygiene drive in the Mayur Vihar slum area of Delhi, reaching over 100 women and young girls with both sanitary products and direct, meaningful conversation.
Just days later, on 19th May 2026, another drive was held at Composite Vidyalaya in Indirapuram.
This time, the team combined an awareness session on menstrual hygiene with pad distribution among around 70 girls.
Two communities reached within ten days through menstrual hygiene awareness, meaningful conversation and access to sanitary products.
Two drives. Two communities. One clear message: menstrual health is not charity.
It is a basic necessity.
When access disappears, dignity does too
Aarav's position on this is firm and unapologetic.
He believes that when menstrual hygiene becomes inaccessible, dignity becomes inaccessible too.
Menstrual health is not simply a women's issue. It is a public health issue, an education issue, an equity issue and, above all, a human rights issue.
Dignity should never depend on whether someone can afford basic menstrual care.
Girls miss school.
Women compromise their health.
Entire communities absorb stigma as though it were normal.
We Rise Together exists to challenge every part of that reality.
The initiative combines sanitary product distribution with direct menstrual hygiene awareness, helping challenge both lack of access and the stigma surrounding periods.
Building beyond SheHygiene
Aarav's work does not stop with one initiative.
Beyond SheHygiene, he has founded multiple initiatives including WeRiseTogether, Sunday4SF and HelpingHands.
Each is focused on expanding access, creating opportunity and restoring dignity for communities left behind.
He is also a two-time TEDx speaker and an author — remarkable achievements for someone who is still in school.
Age is no barrier to moral clarity
Aarav Seth is proof that age is no barrier to moral clarity.
He sees what needs to be done, goes and does it, and refuses to dress it up as anything more complicated than it is.
Dignity is not a privilege. It is a right.
At 17, Aarav is not waiting until he is older to address the issues he sees around him.
He is showing that meaningful change can begin with something as practical as a packet of sanitary pads, an honest conversation, and the willingness to show up where support is needed.
